Three-year agreement for supply to new Bargate Homes

UPOWA has renewed an exclusive supply agreement with Bargate Homes to install solar PV panels across its residential developments over the next three years.

First signed in 2021, the partnership has seen hundreds of energy-efficient Bargate Homes future-proofed with UPOWA Inline Solar systems. These are helping homeowners to save energy, keeping carbon emissions and electricity bills low.

Today there is an increasing focus on more sustainable living. Both home buyers and the Government are demanding ever more energy efficient, low carbon homes. And with the recent implementation of the new Part L Building Regulations, new dwellings must now meet increased energy efficiency requirements. These changes are posing significant challenges to the housebuilding industry.

By choosing to partner up with UPOWA, Bargate Homes has a trusted solar PV expert who will tackle Part L and help make its homes more sustainable and future ready. This will ensure customers can enjoy an energy-efficient home that lowers their carbon footprint and delivers long-term energy savings.

Under the deal, UPOWA will provide a complete service to meet Bargate Homes’ solar PV needs, from consultancy, design and supply to installation and aftercare. This will make Bargate Homes’ route to Part L compliance seamless and stress-free.

Mark White, Managing Director of Bargate Homes, said: “Bargate Homes is committed to only building EPC A or B rated homes to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills. The installation of solar panels is a key element in our approach to creating energy-efficient homes that meet these high EPC ratings.

“We’re pleased to continue our partnership with UPOWA with their solar expertise and innovative approach, which will support us as we strive to become one of the most sustainable housebuilders in the industry.”

James Bull, Sales Director at UPOWA added: “We are delighted to continue our long-standing agreement as Bargate Homes’ go-to solar experts, helping to create eco-friendly housing across the South. As demand increases for solar panels, UPOWA is well positioned to support Bargate through the obstacles and ensure a smooth transition to the Future Homes Standard.

We look forward to partnering with Bargate Homes on their journey to creating more high-quality, sustainable homes that reduce energy bills and carbon emissions for their customers.”

Hampshire-based Bargate Homes focuses on delivering premium new homes - set around expansive areas of new public open space - in prime locations across Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex. The housebuilder is currently delivering 900 homes across six live sites and has a pipeline of future sites expected to deliver more than 2,500 new homes.

Its flagship Rivercross development in Warsash, Hampshire was recently awarded Premier Guarantee’s national Excellence Award for the Development of the Year as well as the highly coveted Developer of the Year. The Rivercross development was also crowned Residential Development of the Year at the 2023 Insider South East Property Awards.

Helping Bargate Homes tackle Part L with solar PV

Like many housebuilders, Bargate Homes is choosing solar as a renewable energy source to help achieve compliance with Part L across its current and future eco-friendly developments.

Solar PV is a proven renewable technology that’s easy to install and requires little maintenance. It’s also one of the most cost-effective solutions to meet the increased energy efficiency standards, which requires a 31% reduction in carbon emissions compared with previous regulations.

As demand for solar panels ramps up across Bargate Homes’ sites, UPOWA will supply end-to-end solar PV expertise to ensure full compliance. This will enable Bargate Homes to manage costs more efficiently and avoid potential delays to their development build programmes.

Where there is a need for a roof-integrated solar solution, Bargate Homes have specified UPOWA’s 400W all-black Inline Solar system. It's favoured by the UK’s biggest housebuilders that include Barratt Developments, Taylor Wimpey and Redrow.
