Elgin Energy has received planning approval from South Somerset District Council for a 32MW Solar farm in North Perrott, near Crewkerne.
The project by Irish and UK developer Elgin Energy was widely reported by several media outlets as contentious because of it's close proximity to the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Approval was challenged by 'Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) as reported in this BBC News article.
It is expected that the solar farm would cover around 133 acres of low-lying land. The BBC reported that Elgin will also plant around 10,000 trees and nearly 1km of hedgerow for screening.
It is believed that RPS Planning were appointed to represent Elgin Energy to achieve this recent result.
